Mags and Em Turn ONE!!

I can't believe it has been almost a year (Oct. 12) since precious Mags and Em were born. It seemed like yesterday that Hea was telling us she was pregnant, then sending us the text that showed not just one baby but TWO. I remember being at the hospital waiting eagerly to see them, and how incredibly small they were (although for twins they weren't all that small). Oh how time flies!

Their birthday party was perfect. The theme was "Sugar and Spice", so Hea made all kinds of different sweets (cinnamin rolls, ginger snaps, candy, etc..) and, of course, decorated in pink and brown.

The party had a great turn out- family, friends, co-workers. Mags and Em, of course, had a great time and I'm sure loved all the attention.  I thought I took a lot more pictures, but evidently I just took them on Hea's camera and forgot to ever take any on mine. Here's what I have:

Sweet Emily

My camera died early on, so I missed getting pictures of the best part: the smash cakes. Actually more importantly then that were the cute outfits the girls were wearing. After opening presents, the girls changed from their dresses into clothes more appropriate for eating cake: tutu's. SO CUTE! Wish I had a picture to share. As for the cake...Emily loved hers, Maggie didn't love the attention and broke out into tears. Maggie then fell asleep while Emily stayed on a sugar high for the rest of the party. The party turned out great...Happy Birthday sweet girls!! Aunt Ashley loves you!

Uncle Hugh with Mason

Lately-7 months

Where do I begin with this past month? It has been CHAOTIC to say the least. It started about 4 weeks ago when we found out that Mason had Hand, Foot, and Mouth disease. Turns out that Mason made mommy sick and I landed myself in the hospital with Viral Meningitis and Strep. I am so blessed to have such amazing family and friends...my friend Emily watched Mason for a while until my sister could get into town, then my mom came up for a week to help out until I could go back to mommy duty. Not to mention my hubby was AMAZING! Thanks guys! Well after I got better, Kyle got food poisoning and was off daddy duty for about 2 days, then to top it all off Mason, Kyle and I came down with a head cold and we were all miserable for about 3 days. I think we are all starting to recoup now and life is getting back to normal!

This months stats:
~Wt: 25.5 lbs
~Ht: 28.5 inches
~sleep schedule has been crazy since he has been sick
~still eats 3 bottles/day and 3 meals/day

Even though all of us have been under the weather, Mason hit some big milestones this month... he can sit up on his own and he got his first tooth! For the past couple weeks he has been working on sitting up... he would often fall forward and face plant on the floor or fall sideways. Mason and Go Go were playing one day while I was sick and, like he had been doing it forever, sat up and played with his toys. He loves sitting up and reaching for his toys... it also makes it easier when we go to restaraunts because he can sit in the highchair! YAY!

I never realized how hard the teething stage would truly be. I know each baby is different, but poor Mason is having a rough time with it. Someone told me once that if adults had to go through teething, they would feel like they were dying. I remind myself of this when he screams multiple times during the night. Thank the Lord for Baby Orajel..it has worked wanders for Mason. We have also tried the cold teething rings (which work well for about 10 minutes), the frozen nets, Motrin, etc.. Any suggestions, Moms?

Mason LOVES air vents! He bangs them and listens for the noise it makes. He especially loves when they turn on!

His newest love: the door stoppers. This one broke about 10 minutes after I took this picture
Mason continues to eat great! We have added squash, apples, peas, and bananas to the mix. He likes it all, but continues to make funny faces with the pears. This week we add carrots...yum!!

Not so happy face.. I probably fed him pears

On a separate note, my brother and I celebrated our 25th birthday this past week. I had a great time grilling out and eating cake with the family.

Thats all for now...will update again soon!
