That dreaded time has come... I've been anticipating it for some time after hearing numerous stories from friends. It must be time for magic belt. Yes, I mean Mason has learned to take his diaper off. It started a couple weeks ago when he learned how to unzip his sleepsack and throw it on the ground. I was fine with that... obviously just means he doesn't need it anymore. Easier for me getting him ready for bed. Then came taking his pants off. Still okay, I will just outwit him and put him in a zip up sleeper. Wrong (again, I feel positive my child is smarter than me). So if the child just wants to sleep in a diaper then fine. I'm not gonna fight it. BUT sleeping naked is not an option. Nor is running around the house slinging your dirty diaper everywhere. SERIOUSLY?! Why is this a phase that kids go through? They don't learn from it, it doesn't make them a better person, it doesn't refine their developmental skills. It just makes me have to clean more. I really wish I had some awesome photos that were suitable to post on here, but I feel like if he reads my blog in 20 years he will hate me for posting them, so I will just share one.
Not 5 minutes after he makes me mad by pooping everywhere, I get to look at this face and it makes it all better:
Except that it probably took me 10 minutes to clean that mess up, too.
On a separate note, Mason has finally decided to show some interest in books. I was starting to think he was going to be like his dad and hate reading, but he finally came around and decided this book thing wasn't so bad.
Who knows, maybe Kyle will start reading with him?!

Barbeques and Cook Out's
This past weekend my mom and I hosted a wedding shower for one of my best friends growing up. Jacie and I practically grew up together until her family moved to North Carolina many years ago. Even then, our famililes met up at least yearly to keep in touch. We share so many memories- from late night pool trips, to laying in bed talking about boys, to watching the Tarheels kick butt, to a weekend getaway in Greensville, to standing beside each other during our weddings.
Im so thankful for great friends like Jacie and can not wait until her big day in SEVEN weeks!!
Of course, I can't blog and not post about Mason. So here are some pics from the week:
I mean, how cute?! |

His new favorite is pulling all the air vents off. I have so far found: 3 paci's, 2 bowls, food of all sorts, and Sophie (the giraffe). Who knows that else we will find... |

17 months
I have been slacker mom this month with taking pictures, so unfortunately this blog doesn't have many pictures BUT... read because Mason has done lots of exciting things since my 15 month blog. Because I have so much to say, I'm going to write in blurps this time...
~ Mason is talking up a storm- most of it is still in his foreign language, but we can make out about 15-20 real words (some of his favorites are cracker, shoes, water, ball, fish, sister.....)
~He is starting to understand concepts. Kyle and I can say "do you want to go get the mail?" and he knows to run to the front door. We can say "do you want to brush your teeth" and he knows to go in the bathroom and get this toothbrush. We can ask him where his shoes are and he goes to find them. His favorite thing is to help me cook... I can say "do you want to help mommy cook dinner" and he runs to the kitchen island where he sits and watches me. He is obsessed with the phone...loves holding it to his ear and saying "hello!". The other day I found him putting the shapes in their corresponding holes. Everyday he surprises me with something new that he understands. I'm perplexed with how he understands these things yet doesn't understand that if he jumps on the couch he gets in trouble?!
~Mason has gotten quite a few boo boo's this month. The worst have been the times when he has fallen off the couch...
~We officially have transitioned to one nap a day. I was extremely hesitant at first but I must say I LOVE it! We have found lots of fun things to fill our time in the morning, but our favorite is definately the pool!
~My favorite thing that Mason has learned: how to give mommy and daddy kisses! LOVE IT!
